IT’S “GAME ON” FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS IN THEIR NEWLY RENOVATED COLISEUM
(Denton, TX, May 2018) – The design team led by Elements of Architecture (Elements), has recently
completed the renovation of the main concourse areas of The University of North Texas Coliseum,
affectionately known as “The Super Pit” by the student body. The 10,500 seat multi-function
coliseum is home to the men’s and women’s Mean Green basketball teams as well as serving the
community for a variety of events. It was originally constructed in 1973 and has hosted NCAA and
Southland Conference basketball tournaments.

Elements coordinated the $8.0 million project, which included the entire concourse area. The
modifications to this facility also included a new ticket booth expansion, a new administrative office,
and an athletics office space expansion. Another key component to the project was revamping the
environmental graphics and the wayfinding within the building for an enhanced user experience.
These renovations and expansions are intended to allow the building to be more of a true multi-
purpose facility supporting such uses as graduations, concerts, and lectures.
